Drawing cartoons and
illustrations is magical. I love the challange of thinking of
a cartoon concept and I love the process of creating an illustration
that carries a message. I work in Photoshop, Illustrator, pastels,
and watercolor. I am self-taught and have been drawing since
I was just a kid. I always helped my mother with her shopping.
She gave me an allowance of ten cents each Friday and I used
it to buy a comic book. I copied the Disney artwork over and
over then I created my own characters. It was great fun. I sold
signs to stores before I was a teen. I started to draw magazine
cartoons when I was a teenager and was unsuccessful for many
years, but I learned much. I started to draw and sell cards and
realized that my humor was fine and that I needed to work on
my drawings. I did that for several years and voila! I started
to sell cartoons to magazines.
My humor writing allowed me
to sell jokes to stage humorists and speech writers and other
cartoonists. I worked with several famous comedians and I have
worked a several corporate projects.
I went to college and finised
with a degree in organic chemistry and followed that with a masters
degree in Advanced Organic Chemistry and a masters degree in
Administration. I worked in chemical research, and education
on the college level.

I have sold my work to many publications including The
New Yorker, Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business
Review and many additional publications. I have created work
for many book publishers and corporations as well. I created
five books of cartoons for a major educational publisher and
a color calendar. All sold very well. I created humor and cartoons
for corporations.
I have written for advertising agencies, and taught on
the college level and the graduate level, been a pharmaceutical
research chemist for a major research center, and designed college
programs in continuing education. I created online courses for
the City University of New York back when this was a novel approach.
I am often asked where I get my ideas. I write all my own
ideas. How I do that is to relax, and let the ideas come to me.
You cannot force the process and I think you cannot learn the
process.
